My name is Chan Zai. I was born in a walled village of the Tang clan in Lung Yeuk Tau, New Territories, which has a history of over 500 years. I have been filled with curiosity and pride for this familiar land since I was young. I was born in the auspicious old walled village, gazing at the lush green mountains in the distance and the meandering Wutong River, which made me feel the unique charm of this land from an early age. Our ancestors carefully chose this site and built sturdy high walls of blue bricks, which not only defended against pirate attacks but also provided a cool and pleasant shelter from the heat. Although the village gate is narrow, it serves its defensive purpose well, making it difficult for outsiders to invade easily. The ancient well beside the gate is a vital water source for the villagers, ensuring water security when enemies approach. As I walk into the village, the neatly arranged houses are hidden beneath the greenery, exuding an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. The ancestral hall towers into the clouds, with dragon-head wood carvings and crane reliefs inside, showcasing the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Tang clan. During major festivals, the villagers actively participate, ringing the ancient bronze bell in unison, praying for the blessings of our ancestors. I especially love to visit the Tin Hau Temple, where after lighting an incense stick, I listen to the miraculous stories of the Goddess of Heaven and the Earth God, hoping they will bless me with safety and health. The nearby Chong Him Hall is also a favorite of mine, filled with countless memories from my childhood. Every time I step into this familiar historic site, I can't help but feel: I am so fortunate to be born in such a place rich in history and culture. I will study hard to inherit the wisdom of my ancestors, ensuring that this treasured land is passed down through generations and thrives.

Odo, sensing their fear, knelt and prayed for peace. Miraculously, the villagers’ unease faded, and an elder invited them to share their story. The Story of Christmas Under a grand tree, Odo gathered the villagers and told them the story of Jesus' birth. He spoke of a baby sent by God to bring love, hope, and joy to the world. The villagers, especially the children, were captivated and asked to celebrate this special birth. The First Christmas Celebration The villagers prepared joyfully: children decorated a tree with palm leaves, seashells, and flowers, while the adults cooked a feast of fresh fruits, fish, and rice. Odo taught them a song about Jesus, and together they celebrated under the starry sky. The Gift Exchange Odo encouraged the villagers to exchange gifts made with love. They gave simple, meaningful offerings like woven mats, carved animals, and shiny shells, emphasizing the true spirit of giving. The Lesson of Christmas Odo reminded everyone that Christmas was about love, kindness, and unity. The villagers, touched by his words, vowed to celebrate Christmas every year as a reminder to cherish these values. Odo's Departure As Odo and his friends prepared to leave, the villagers gave him a pouch of seashells as a token of gratitude. Waving goodbye, they promised to carry the spirit of Christmas in their hearts. Ending Note Thus, on December 25, 1324, the first Christmas in the Philippines was celebrated, igniting a tradition of love, kindness, and faith that the villagers passed down through generations.

After playtime, the 9-year-old busily punched the air, tapped her foot, twirled, and bent her knees… dance was her world! Her school’s annual day was coming up in two weeks. Mayuka was set to perform a group dance along with classmates from 4th standard first and later, a solo dance in the competition category. The girls prepared for the group dance with their class teacher. For her solo, she took help from Greta Miss, her dance teacher at the Dancing Stars studio near her home. Two weeks became one week and then soon enough Rainbow School’s annual day arrived. She was exhausted from the constant practice yet excited. ‘Welcome to Rainbow School’s Annual Day,’ read the banners everywhere. Mayuka walked into school chirpily with her mother. Since her father’s death a year ago, it was her mother who attended all her school events. Mayuka and her mom went to her classroom, buzzing with her dance pals. ‘Where’s my skirt?’ ‘Miss, my hairclips are missing.’ Ka-chik, ka-chik, selfies everywhere. Mayuka got ready quickly. Her mom gave her the usual good luck kiss. The dancers waited backstage as Miss Lily announced ‘Here come the dance champs of class 4!’ The audience clapped exuberantly before and after the dance.

Aubree is a 4 year old girl from Oceanside, California. She lives with her mommy, daddy, and maltipoo dog named Paddington. Christmas is Aubree’s favorite time of year and she always eagerly awaits the return of her elves on “Sleigh Day,” her family’s special holiday each year on the day after Thanksgiving. Aubree’s elves are named Chippy, Snowflake, Kitty Minnie Sparkle Heart Minnie, and Stripey Blue Eyes. They return to Aubree’s house from the North Pole on the morning of Sleigh Day, arriving in a giant red and gold sleigh, pulled by a giant toy reindeer Sven (the reindeer from Frozen). Aubree’s elves always bring her some gifts on Sleigh Day, usually some Christmas books, cozy pajamas, and a few Christmas themed toys to play with throughout the season. Each night throughout the Christmas season, Aubree’s elves fly back to the North Pole, then return to her home by the morning, always hiding in a different spot. Aubree’s elves are very mischievous and she loves searching for them every morning. Each Sunday throughout the season, her elves leave her a special card or letter along with a fun gift or activity to do with her family, like tickets to see The Nutcracker or to go to Legoland. Aubree’s family loves these special days and calls them “Elf Sundays.” Aubree’s elves stay at her home longer than other children’s elves because they know she loves Christmas so much! They stay until she goes back to school, and then they fly back to the North Pole until they return on Sleigh Day the following year. When they leave, the elves always give her a special parting gift with a card, to make sure she always has special memories of that Christmas season.

A little girl named Chloe talks to God and knows she was made perfect by Him. Others tell her she is a boy because she doesn't like to wear dresses or play with dolls. She likes to climb trees and play with her dogs and splash in the mud. They say she should talk to a doctor and become a boy. She doesn't want to. She knows she is a girl, but she is starting to feel confused. She doesn't want to talk to anybody but God about it and He is telling her she is perfect the way she is, and she is a girl. She chooses to stay the way she is and looses some friends because of it. She was sad about that for a while but she made some new friends who also talk to God and is now very happy that she listened to God and not to what people told her.

One morning Juliet woke up earlier than usual. She was very excited because today she and her parents, Sergei and Tilly, were going to visit her Uncle Peter's farm. It was her favourite place! They quickly got ready and set off. ‘I can't wait to see all the animals!’ Juliet said happily. ‘Don't worry, you'll see them soon!’ smiled Sergei. She took a bucket of grain and began to feed the chickens. They clucked happily, and the little yellow chicks ran after their mother. Juliet was happy to watch them. Juliet enjoyed watching them and felt like a real farmer. Page 4: Riding a horse After lunch, Uncle Peter invited Juliet to ride his horse, Windy. ‘I've always wanted to do that!’ - Juliet said. She climbed on Windy's back and the horse began to trot gently across the green field. Juliet held on to his mane and laughed with delight as the wind blew her hair. Page 5: Returning home After a fun day at the farm, Juliet, Sergei and Tilly said goodbye to Uncle Peter and his animals. ‘This was the best day!’ - Juliet said. ‘Come back again, there are always new adventures waiting for you!’ - said Uncle Peter.
