First day of 5th grade

Every morning, my mom puts on her scrubs and her big, bright smile. She says, “Time to help people feel better!” That’s what she does every day. Page 3-4: (An illustration of the mom at the medical office, greeting patients.) Text: At work, Mom sees lots of people. “Good morning!” she says. “How can I help you today?” She checks them in, takes their temperatures, and even asks how they’re feeling. Page 5-6: (Mom taking someone’s blood pressure with the child peeking in from the side of the page.) Text: Sometimes, she wraps a cuff around their arm and listens closely. “Your blood pressure looks great!” she says with a nod. She’s like a detective, solving little health puzzles. Page 7-8: (Mom helping the doctor in the exam room, holding tools or updating charts.) Text: Mom works with the doctor, too. She gets things ready, takes notes, and makes sure everything runs smoothly. “She’s my right-hand helper,” the doctor always says. Page 9-10: (An illustration of Mom holding a little girl’s hand and calming her down before a shot.) Text: Some patients feel nervous, like Sarah, who’s scared of getting a shot. “Don’t worry,” Mom says softly, “I’ll be right here with you.” And just like that, Sarah is brave enough to try. Page 11-12: (Mom cleaning up, answering phones, or scheduling appointments at the desk.) Text: Mom does so much! She answers phones, cleans tools, and even schedules appointments. “It’s like keeping the whole office healthy,” she tells me. Page 13-14: (The child waiting for their mom at home, hugging her as she walks in the door.) Text: When Mom comes home, I run to hug her. “Did you help lots of people today?” I ask. She smiles. “I sure did!” Page 15-16: (A heartwarming illustration of Mom and the child reading a bedtime story together.) Text: Even after a long day, Mom always has time for me. She reads my favorite story, and I feel so lucky. Because my mom isn’t just any helper—she’s my hero.

**The Lost Firefly** One warm evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the sky turned pink, Mimi the cat, Lulu the frog, and Didi the duck relaxed by their favorite pond. They loved this time of day, perfect for catching fireflies. “Let’s see who catches the most!” Didi quacked excitedly. The friends raced around, laughing as they tried to catch the glowing fireflies in the tall grass. But as the night deepened, Mimi noticed a firefly glowing brighter than the others, hovering alone near an old oak tree. “It looks lost,” Lulu said, her eyes wide. “We have to help it!” Didi declared. Determined, the friends followed the little firefly through the forest. It led them over meadows, past creeks, and into the tall trees. The journey was challenging, but they pressed on, eager to reunite the firefly with its family. Finally, they reached a glowing bush filled with other fireflies. The lost firefly zipped into the group, its glow brightening as it reunited with its family. “We did it!” Lulu cheered. The friends sat under the twinkling lights, realizing the best part of their night wasn’t catching fireflies but helping the little one find its way home. From then on, they promised to always help those in need, knowing even small acts of kindness could light up the world.

Once in a peaceful little town by the sea, there lived a cat named Avery. Avery was a fluffy, white and faun ragdoll who loved to eat more than anything in the world. He especially loved fish, and every day, he would sit by the docks waiting for the fishermen to return with their catch. The fishermen were kind and often gave Avery a fish or two. But Avery was greedy. No matter how many fish he got, he always wanted more. One sunny afternoon, as the fishermen were unloading their boats, Avery saw the biggest fish he had ever laid eyes on. It was shiny and silver, and Avery’s mouth watered just looking at it. “I must have that fish!” Avery thought, though he had already eaten two smaller ones that day. But the big fish wasn’t for Avery. It was the prize catch of the day, and the fishermen planned to sell it at the market. Avery, however, was too greedy to think about that. So, while everyone was busy, he quietly snuck up, grabbed the fish in his mouth, and ran off. Avery was thrilled! He imagined feasting on the giant fish all by himself. But as he hurried to his secret spot, he crossed a narrow bridge over a stream. When Avery looked down, he saw something amazing — another cat in the water holding an even bigger fish! Of course, it was just his own reflection, but Avery didn’t know that. “I want that fish too!” he thought greedily, dropping the fish from his mouth into the water as he tried to snatch the one he saw below. SPLASH! The fish fell into the stream and swam away, leaving Avery with nothing. His big, shiny fish was gone, and so was the reflection he had mistaken for another prize. Avery sat by the stream, sad and hungry. When he returned to the docks, the fishermen had packed up and left, and there were no more fish to be found. Avery realised that his greed had cost him his meal. From that day on, Avery learned an important lesson: being greedy can make you lose what you already have. He still loved fish, but he never took more than he needed again.

Sam is a young boy who doesn't want to go to sleep because he's busy building his spaceship. One night, he notices a twinkling star named Twinkle outside his window. Twinkle invites Sam on an adventure to the Land of Dreams, where sleepy stars rest and children have magical dream adventures. Sam flies with Twinkle through the night sky, past the Moon and fluffy clouds, to the Land of Dreams. There, he sees colorful dream bubbles filled with children having wonderful adventures. Twinkle shows Sam his special dream bubble where he becomes the captain of a spaceship, exploring distant planets and meeting friendly aliens. Sam's mom finds him sleeping peacefully with a smile on his face. From that night on, Sam looks forward to bedtime, knowing that each night brings a new adventure in the Land of Dreams, guided by Twinkle, the Sleepy Star.

In a land far beyond the clouds, there existed a magical place known as Candy Island. The Island was ruled by Queen Caramelina, a kind and cheerful queen. Despite all the sweetness, there was one thing that bothered Queen Caramelina: her island was losing its sparkle. The queen called a grand meeting of the island’s creatures to find out what was wrong. Among the crowd, a brave young girl named Taffy stood up. She was a candy cane girl with a heart as sweet as sugar. Her courage was immense, and she was always the first to volunteer when help was needed. “I’ll go, Your Majesty!” Taffy said with determination. “I’ll find out what’s causing the island’s magic to fade, and I’ll fix it!” Queen Caramelina smiled warmly at Taffy. “You are brave. Take this golden candy wrapper. It will help guide you on your journey.” Finally, after a long journey, Taffy arrived at the heart of Candy Island the Sugar Crystal Cave, where the magic of the island was born. Inside the cave, a giant Sugar Crystal stood, glowing with a soft, radiant light. This crystal was the source of the entire island’s sweetness. But when Taffy approached it, she gasped in surprise. The crystal was dim, its glow fading, and around it was a dark, swirling mist. “What is this?” Taffy whispered, her heart sinking. She knew she had to do something to save Candy Island. Taffy’s eyes widened as a small, mischievous creature appeared from the mist. The Sugar Gremlin was a tiny, candy like creature with sticky fingers and a sly grin. He was made of half-melted sugar and dark caramel, his eyes sparkled with mischief. “Why would you steal the sweetness?” Taffy asked, her voice filled with sadness. “This island needs its magic. Without it, we’ll lose everything.” The Sugar Gremlin chuckled. “Oh, but that’s exactly the point! The island was becoming too perfect. It needs balance, a bit of spice, a touch of sourness something to break the sweetness.” I understand now,” Taffy said, her voice filled with compassion. “
