"You must always grow near good water, and follow the right path," Oak said. "Let me tell you a story." The Story of the Good Tree Oak began: "There are two kinds of trees in this forest. One tree, who grows by the dry, dusty path, never seems to bloom. The wind blows its leaves away, and its branches stay thin. It follows the wrong path, always listening to the wind that makes it sway in all directions." Sapling listened closely. "But," Oak continued, "there is another tree, who grows by the river. The river keeps it watered, and the sun shines on it all day. This tree has deep roots, strong branches, and it grows full of bright, healthy leaves." Sapling asked, "How does the river help it grow?" "The river," said Oak, "is like the Word of God. It gives the tree everything it needs to stay strong and bear fruit, even in difficult times. The snake (Satan) said, “Did God really say, ‘You can’t eat from any tree in the garden?’” Eve said, “We can eat from any tree in the garden except the tree of knowing good and bad. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it, or you will die.’” Satan wanted Adam and Eve to choose to do what they wanted to do instead of obeying God. The snake (Satan) said, “No. God knows that when you eat the fruit, you will be like Him, knowing good and bad.”

The story tells of a child and mother who have come into a homeless shelter due to domestic violence in their home. The child is nervous about their new home, but a small, scruffy grey and brown dog named Scarlett welcomes the family and tells them about Quanada house. Quanada house is a home for parents and children that people stay at when their home isn't safe. It is a safe place that looks like a big house with an upstairs that has 5 bedrooms. Throughout the story, Scarlett shows the family their room, the dining room and kitchen, and the playroom. Scarlett the shelter dog helps the child make their bed up in their new room and brings toys to help it feel more like home. The child is sad about leaving their home but scarlett makes them feel better. Then they go downstairs and watch tv and eat a snack in the family room. After they eat, they go upstairs and brush their teeth and go to sleep in their temporary home.
